The Lion: Lennox Lewis

The Lion: Lennox Lewis

This article will be about Lennox Lewis, the former boxing champion and humanitarian. Though he is not technically royalty, his impact on humanity can still be compared to that of a king or queen. It is no secret that Lennox Lewis is a fearsome boxer who is often given the title of “the best” or “the greatest” when it comes to boxers. So for almost a decade, Lewis has been dominating his matches. That is why I think he deserves some attention and I wanted to share his story with you.

The life of Lennox Lewis

The Lion: Lennox Lewis, who was born in England in 1965, is a former world heavyweight champion. He is also one of the most successful British athletes of all time. He won the Olympic gold medal in 1988 and became world champion in 1999.

He was born on September 2nd, 1965 in London, England. He began boxing when he was 13 years old and went on to win the 1988 Olympic Gold Medal at Seoul as a super-heavyweight. In 1991 he became the first British boxer to win Olympic gold since 1908. That same year he turned professional and became world heavyweight champion in 1999 after defeating Mike Tyson for the WBC title. He retired from boxing in 2003 with an impressive record of 41 wins and 2 losses (38 wins by knockout).

He currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife Nicola and their three children: Nouran (born October 1998), Laila (born May 2002), and Amir (born May 2004). They also have two dogs—a German Shepherd named Tyson and a Doberman Pinscher named Lennox Jr., after Lennox’s father who passed away when Lennox was just 10 months old.

The achievements

He is known for his style of boxing, which is considered to be “boring” and “one-dimensional.” This style of boxing involves using a lot of footwork and lateral movement to avoid taking damage and also falling into traps set by his opponent. Even though it is not the most popular style, it was obviously effective.

He turned pro in 1988 with a record of 0-0-1 (KO). His first professional fight was against Michael Dokes which he won by TKO in round 1. He then went undefeated for 7 years until he lost to Oliver McCall by KO in round 5. He then won the vacant WBC world heavyweight title by beating Evander Holyfield by TKO in round 12 after knocking him down twice during the fight. He defended his title against Hasim Rahman by unanimous decision (UD) in UD before losing to Lennox Lewis whom he had beaten earlier that year by UD due to an eye injury sustained during the fight. He retired from boxing while still holding his title after that fight but returned two years later to beat Vitali Klitschko by UD before retiring again with a record of 37-2(32) with 34 KOs.

Biggest wins

One of Lewis’ most notable achievements is his victory over Mike Tyson in 2002. This match was one of the most highly anticipated boxing matches in history. It was also one of the most controversial matches in history because it ended with an injury to Tyson that some believed was caused by Lewis’ punches.

Lewis also won gold medals at three different Olympic Games: Seoul (1988), Barcelona (1992), and Atlanta (1996). He later became a member of the British Parliament and served as Minister for Sport in Tony Blair’s government between 2001 and 2007.
